Description
The TechLARP project aims to close the gender gap in technology studies and STEAM education
in order to encourage young girls to pursue STEM and, particularly, computer science studies.
Drawing on the pivotal need to train and equip HEI students (as future educators) with
arts-based and gender-inclusive practices, which are still underdeveloped in tech education
and STEM curricula, the TechLARP project aims to develop a Gender-Inclusive Blueprint and an innovative,
arts-based Tech Education programme that draws on LARP (Live Action Role Playing), creative coding,
and wearable technologies to build the capacities of student teachers to design and implement effective
tech education interventions that increase young girls' engagement, motivation, and confidence to engage
with technology and broader STEM studies more effectively.
Objectives
- Develop a Gender-Inclusive Creative Tech Education Blueprint as a comprehensive framework that integrates
Edu-LARP to inspire and engage future STEM educators.
- Design the Creative Tech Edu-LARP Program to engage middle school girls in tech studies, focusing on coding and problem-solving.
- Provide Innovative Digital Training Toolkits to equip higher education institutions (HEIs) with cutting-edge
resources that enhance the digital skills of educators in STEM fields.
- Organize Co-Design Workshops with diverse stakeholders, including educators, students, and policymakers,
to ensure inclusive, relevant, and impactful project outcomes.
- Train HEI Students to implement the Creative Tech Edu-LARP program with an emphasis on innovative and inclusive pedagogy.
- Promote Gender Equality and Creativity in STEM Education by addressing barriers and stereotypes while fostering creativity.
